IT Server/Network Support - Baton Rouge, LA
Summary
- Migration of DAS to SAN storage systems.
- Virtualization of servers insuring high availability and
disaster recovery.
- Backup/recovery of all servers
- Monitor all LAN/WAN to
insure continuous server availability to remote sites.
- Maintain 4 - 9's availability.
- Available for emergencies
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Experience with hypervisors and virtual server management products (VMware,
Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V, System Center Virtual Machine
Manager).
- Knowledge
of capacity planning and resource sharing optimization
strategies for hardware to include physical server, network, and
storage
- Some
level of experience with all products in the Microsoft System
Center family of management products and VMware's product line.
- Experience
with automated server deployment and imaging technologies
- Knowledge
of operational best practices such as those from VMware and/or
the Microsoft Operations Framework
- Knowledge
of high availability and disaster recovery strategies for
virtualized servers
- Broad
knowledge of information technology trends and technologies
- Experience
working closely with multiple subject matter experts in a
variety of areas
- Experience
working with technical sales and service teams.
- Excellent
written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Strong
business acumen and analytical skills
- A
working knowledge of enterprise architecture and project
management frameworks
Qualifications
- The
successful candidate will have a degree in computer science,
engineering, mathematics, physics and/or equivalent work
experience. Higher relevant education preferred.
- At
least 5 years experience in Microsoft infrastructure design and
implementation.
- At least 2 years experience working with
virtualization and management technologies (Hyper-V, VMWare,
Intel VT,etc)

- Working conditions are normal for an office environment.
- Work requires extensive work using a computer.
- Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the
systems being supported.

Summary
- Provide system-level support of multi-user operating systems, software tools, and
support of these systems
- Root cause and affect analysis
- Acts as the liaison between end users and programming/development personnel
- First-level problem resolution for all incoming questions to the Help Desk
Primary
Responsibilities
- Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems
- Analyze and evaluate present or proposed business procedures or problems to define
data processing needs
- Prepare detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining systems capabilities and processes
- Research and recommend hardware and software development, purchase, and use
- Select among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are inadequate,
significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise
- Work as a team member with other technical staff
- Write and maintain system documentation
- Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time
required, and compatibility with current system
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored
or accessed by the network
- Document system problems and resolutions for future reference
- Other duties as assigned
- Identify alternatives for optimizing computer resources

Knowledge
and Skill Requirements
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired
through a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of company supported hardware, software and operating systems.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
- Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system software.
- Ability to develop systems solutions for operational problems.
- Knowledge of computer flow charts and of programming logic and codes.
- Knowledge of database design and structures.
- Ability to determine computer problems and to coordinate hardware and/or
software solutions.
- Ability to communicate technical guidance and instruction to users on the use of
PC and/or mainframe applications and systems.
- Ability to write technical instructions in the use of programs and/or program modifications.
- Ability to determine the nature of computer hardware and systems software problems,
and to communicate technical guidance and information to users.
- Ability to learn and support new hardware, software and operating systems.
- Work with users requires interpersonal skills. These are normally acquired through
a combination of a Bachelor's Degree and three to five years of programming and/or
system analysis experience.

and virus updates
- Ensure all computers have access to backup storage
- Maintain and service print servers for office network printers and perform routine
backups of file servers along with ensuring proper handling of backup disks
- Assist with tracking of all IT company assets including software licenses
- Responsible for monitoring and assisting with programming Shoretel phone system
- Assist in maintenance of Shoretel DVM’s and all telephones
- Monitor all AWC communications, data, and phone connections
- Work with Service providers in the event of any disruptions in services
