FLSA Class: Non-Exempt

Pay type: Hourly

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Disassemble, assemble and test pressure relief, safety relief valves, pilot valves and pressure – vacuum vents according to ASME, NBIC and API codes, as well as manufacturers specifications

· Analyze valve problems and choose corrective action

· Read and interpret schematics for assembly, repair and reassembly as required

· Work within very close tolerances to ensure product quality

· Read blueprint drawings, job orders, tooling instructions, or standard charts to determine specification procedures

· Work to avoid rejection and maintain safety and quality at all times

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines

· Must be willing to work towards continuous improvement of output, quality and delivery

· Knowledgeable in bolt torqueing

· Ability to work in a shop atmosphere and outside in customer owned facilities, i.e. Refineries, Chemical and Petrochemical Plants, Power Plants and Pipeline and Compressor Station facilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

· Knowledge of relief and safety relief valves

· Must understand ASME, NBIC and API codes

· Strong mechanical aptitude

· Ability to work in both independent and team settings

· Ability to read and understand drawings

· Ability to use measurement devices such as Vernier calipers

· Excellent verbal communication skills

· Punctual

· Able to work with minimal supervision

· Knowledge of, and ability to safely use basic hand tools

· Dedication to a safe work environment

· Ability to work extended hours

Education / Experience

· Minimum 2 plus years of valve repair, testing, reconditioning or modification

· High School diploma or GED

· Technical certificates a plus

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to pass a Physical Abilities Test (PAT) Post offer.
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Be able to lift, push, pull, or carry.

· Must be able to move and or lift parts up to 40 pounds

· Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, lift and carry

· Able to operate power equipment such as lift trucks or hand trucks

· The position requires the ability to be able to work nights and/or weekends as determined by project/company necessity

· Drug testing required before employment and randomly thereafter
