As a Pressure Relief Valve Technician and employee owner you will work in a shop atmosphere and have the opportunity to work in customer owned facilities. Facilities such as refineries, Chemical and Petrochemical Plants, Power Plants, Pipeline and Compressor Station facilities. You will be an essential part to the success of AWC, completing each function properly and exceeding our customers expectation.

 

The Essentials

  • Disassemble, assemble and test pressure relief, safety relief valves, pilot valves and pressure – vacuum vents according to ASME, NBIC and API codes, as well as manufacturers specifications

  • Analyze valve problems and choose corrective action

  • Read and interpret schematics for assembly, repair and reassembly as required

  • Work within very close tolerances to ensure product quality

  • Read blueprint drawings, job orders, tooling instructions, or standard charts to determine specification procedures

  • Work to avoid rejection and maintain safety and quality at all times

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet critical deadlines

  • Must be willing to work towards continuous improvement of output, quality and delivery

  • Knowledgeable in bolt torquing

 

What You’ll Bring to the Table

  • Knowledge of relief and safety relief valves

  • Must understand ASME, NBIC and API codes

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to work in both independent and team settings

  • Ability to read and understand drawings

  • Ability to use measurement devices such as Vernier calipers

  • Able to work with minimal supervision

  • Knowledge of, and ability to safely use basic hand tools

  • Dedication to a safe work environment

  • Ability to work extended hours

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 plus years of valve repair, testing, reconditioning or modification

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.

  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.

  • Be able to lift, push, pull, or carry.

  • Must be able to move and or lift parts up to 40 pounds

  • Ability to stand, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, lift and carry

  • Able to operate power equipment such as lift trucks or hand trucks

  • The position requires the ability to be able to work nights and/or weekends as determined by project/company necessity.

  • Instrumentation/Control valves experience.
