AWC’s Design Guide for Product Standardization

Developing standardized, cost effective solutions that can frequently be reused in multiple applications is the key to effective engineering.

To help our customers develop and win with their solutions, AWC engineers and subject matter experts (SMEs) have applied decades of Industrial Control System experience and best practices to create the AWC Design Guide. The Design Guide follows the Pareto principles, which reflect the belief that 80% of common applications can be served by 20% of relevant products. Standardizing on the most flexible and frequently used Industrial Control System components, instead of having to pick from hundreds of thousands of parts in a manufacturer’s catalog, eliminates potential supply chain issues and allows for easily consolidation of spare parts stock.

All information in the Design Guide is presented in an easy-to-follow “Quick-Spec” format in which only critical selection attributes are listed, so that even someone new to the world of Industrial Control Systems can select the best product for their application.

Easy-to-use selection guides have been created for each product or technology found in a control system, thus ensuring that the right parts are correctly sized and selected and that no critical components are forgotten.

Real-life application examples and reference materials from a wide range of technology partners further assist in developing solutions faster by providing access to necessary information and technical resources in one centralized location.
