Siemens: ET200SP Selection Guide

The SIMATIC ET200SP family provides a high level of usability, expandability, and ease of installation and wiring, all in a compact footprint. Because of these features, the ET200SP CPU is ideal for applications where panel space is a premium, hot-swappable I/O are required, or multiple remote or distributed I/O drops are needed. The ET200SP CPU is ideal for small-to-mid-size applications with typically less than 500 discrete and 200 analog I/O points. The below steps provide a step-by-step guide in selecting the correct ET200SP CPU hardware configuration for any application:

  1. Select a CPU based on internal memory.
  2. Select a bus adapter (required) for the CPU.
  3. Select a memory card (required) for the CPU.
  4. Select the I/O required. A maximum of 64 I/O modules are allowed per ET200SP CPU, and a maximum of 32 I/O modules are allowed per ET200SP interface module.
  5. Select the correct base unit for each I/O module.
  6. If additional or remotely located racks are required, select an ET200SP interface module with the appropriate onboard interface.
  7. An Ethernet cable and (2) Ethernet connectors are required to connect an ET200SP interface module to the CPU.
  8. Select a power supply.
  9. Select DIN rail with 15mm height.
  10. Use the programming software selection guide to select programming software, if required.
