Siemens: How to configure the terminal strip of a G120 in TIA Portal

When commissioning and parameterizing a SINAMICS G120 variable frequency drive (VFD) in TIA Portal, the default parameter p15 (Macro drive unit) may be set to a value of 7 (Fieldbus with data set changeover).  This allows for a separate PLC to automatically control the frequency of the VFD, monitor motor parameters, etc.  However, it is possible to configure digital and analog I/O on the G120 control unit’s terminal strip in the event that manual control (such as a hardwired Emergency Stop button) can be added.  This can be done via Startdrive in TIA Portal.

Once the correct PM (power module) and CU (control unit) are added to the TIA Portal project and available within the Project tree, navigate to the Parameter menu and choose either the “Functional View” or “Parameter View”, depending on preference on how the information is displayed.  Select the specific input or output and assign parameters as needed.
