Siemens: How to load parameters to an IOP-2 via CLI

With the release of firmware version 2.6 of the SINAMICS IOP-2 Intelligent Operator Panel and the use of a standard USB-to-mini-USB cable, users are now able to use a Command Line Interface (CLI) file to load a set of parameters to any member of the SINAMICS G variable frequency drive family that supports the IOP-2.  An example of compatible G drives includes the G110M/D and G120/C/X/D models.  The steps for loading parameters to an IOP-2 via a CLI file are as follows:

  • Create an Excel file with two columns, Column A and Column B
  • Column A must only contain one of the following:
    • “wrp” command for writing parameters
    • “rdpw” command for reading parameters
    • “rem” command for a comments line
  • Column B can be edited with comments to help document the file and provide additional information about the parameters
  • A “wrp” line must contain 3 arguments and should be entered in the format shown to the right:
    • Parameter number
    • Index (dds, cds, etc.)
    • Value
  • A “rdpw” line must contain 4 arguments and should be entered in the format shown to the right:
    • Parameter number
    • Index (dds, cds, etc.)
    • Value
    • Timeout (in ms)
  • Copy Column A only into a blank Notepad file and save the file with a .cli extension
  • Plug the IOP-2 into the PC using the USB-to-mini-USB cable and copy the .cli file into the IOP-2’s user/cps folder
  • Eject the USB device and wait 5 seconds
  • Remove the IOP-2 from the cable and plug into the control unit of the G drive
  • On the IOP-2, navigate to Menu –> Up/Download –> Download panel to drive and begin the download process
