WIKA Case Study: V-Pad® Thermocouple Results in Improved Accuracy, Reliability, and Repeatability

Discover how a petrochemical plant in Louisiana overcame frequent sensor failure and unreliable temperature data by replacing inconsistent solution with WIKA V-PAD® tubeskin thermocouples
This Case Study highlights the common challenges faced by petrochemical plants needing to accurately monitor the coil outlet temperature (COT) of their ethane crackers, which is crucial for maintaining optimal temperature range and maximizing ethylene conversion.
A Louisiana petrochemical plant was using an older, unreliable thermocouple system that resulted in frequent sensor failures and inaccurate temperature data.

To address this issue, the plant consulted with WIKA and implemented the WIKA V-PAD® thermocouple system, which provided improved accuracy, reliability, and repeatability across all 96 coil outlets.

The new system allowed the plant to operate within the optimum temperature range, resulting in improved ethylene production.
